The mission of the Fondation Eschaton-Anselm Kiefer is to advance the artistic legacy of its founder, Anselm Kiefer, by conserving and cataloguing his archives and preserving La Ribaute, his studio home in Barjac, France, for future generations.

Eschaton promotes the appreciation and understanding of contemporary art by organising and supporting exhibitions, facilitating research and publication projects, and presenting works by Kiefer and other artists to the public at La Ribaute.

The name of the Foundation, Eschaton, refers to the cyclical nature of life, and the concept that creation and rebirth arise from ruins and are made possible by disappearance and destruction, an important leitmotif in Anselm Kiefer's artistic practice.
