"Over the years, this bond has grown stronger and stronger, driven by a tireless desire to bring together passionate audiences and exciting artists. At a time when many cultural events are overblown, the Gard Festival has never wavered from its position, preferring to defend an event on a human scale. And we can only agree with him today, because - as the successive crises we're going through prove - it's now vital to reverse the growth curve and put an end to this frantic race to excess.

The festival has also managed to retain its identity, remaining attached to a certain 'character' of song, demanding and committed, while gradually opening up to new aesthetics. It has persisted in defending artistic singularities in the face of the increasingly loud barking of the majors who are trying to smooth out and standardise the songwriting landscape.

As a result, Barjac M'en Chante has become a major music venue, a benchmark far beyond its Cévennes borders, and now has a national reach that extends to a large part of the French-speaking world. "
